Data from the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy for April confirms a positive trend in Huelva's labor market. The province has achieved a progressive reduction in unemployment, reaching levels not seen in two decades, and a job creation rate that surpasses the Andalusian and national averages. Only the Balearic Islands, driven by tourism, recorded a greater decrease.
In April, the number of job seekers in Huelva stood at 27,315 people. This figure is the lowest since 2007, with only April 2005 and 2006 showing lower records, bringing current statistics close to historic lows. The year-on-year variation shows a decrease of 3,786 people, a 12.17% reduction, unparalleled in the rest of Spain.

The tertiary sector has been the main driver of this improvement in Huelva, reflecting the general trend in Andalusia and the rest of the country. Tourism reactivation, hotel reopenings, and a favorable Holy Week have boosted the services sector, which recorded a decrease of 1,078 job seekers. Other sectors such as agriculture, industry, and construction have also experienced declines.
Regarding Social Security affiliation, Huelva stands out with 277,173 affiliates, following an increase of 14,062 in the last month. This 5.34% increase is only surpassed by the Balearic Islands nationally. Despite these positive figures, a significant gender gap persists, with 16,234 unemployed women compared to 11,081 men, representing almost two out of three unemployed individuals. The fight against seasonality and female unemployment remain key challenges for the province.
