Between January and July 2026, the Huelva City Council completed a total of 5,235 actions aimed at improving mobility in the capital. The work primarily focused on the traffic light system, as well as the signage and beaconing of various streets and urban areas.
The majority of these interventions, specifically 4,253, were concentrated on the traffic light network. These tasks included improvements and expansions to controllers, cameras, and bollards, along with addressing breakdowns, incidents, and damages. Efforts were also made to synchronize and coordinate the traffic light devices.
Furthermore, 982 actions were carried out in signage and beaconing, responding to needs identified in different parts of the city to ensure safer circulation.
“"These works aim to improve both road safety and the accessibility of Huelva's streets. We continue working to achieve a city that is more comfortable, safe, and accessible for everyone."
The Councillor for Mobility, Milagros Rodríguez, highlighted the importance of these actions in optimizing vehicle and pedestrian traffic and enhancing overall accessibility, aiming to create a modern and adaptable city model.
Beyond infrastructure, the Mobility department has promoted road safety education among young people. Workshops were organized in collaboration with educational centers in Huelva, such as IES José Caballero, IES La Rábida, and SAFA Fucandia, to foster knowledge of rules and promote safe and responsible behaviors. 500 mobility games were produced, and sessions on scooter usage and municipal regulations were held.
Additionally, a giant interactive game called ‘Muévete Huelva’ was used, involving 11 schools at various city locations, including the square of the former Estadio Colombino, the tents on Avenida de Andalucía, Plaza de La Merced, La Cinta, and Plaza de Las Monjas.
“"We want Huelva to move towards a mobility model where everyone can travel more safely, comfortably, and accessibly, and to achieve this, we need to act on both our streets and the habits and knowledge of those who use them."
The 5,235 actions combine the maintenance and modernization of traffic regulation elements with initiatives aimed at promoting road safety from an early age, thus seeking comprehensive progress in Huelva's mobility.
