The firefighting team is working to contain the main fronts of the Niebla fire in Huelva to prevent further spread. Meteorological conditions, such as low relative humidity and ground heating, require caution against potential flare-ups.
The emergency has led to the precautionary evacuation of 718 people across the provinces of Huelva and Seville. Of these, 524 are from Huelva municipalities and 194 from towns in Seville. Recently, 24 individuals from El Madroñuelo and scattered areas of Escacena del Campo, along with 13 residents from Aznalcóllar, were added to this figure.
Currently, 62 people are housed in designated centers: 26 at the Teatro Ruiz Tatay in Zalamea la Real, 31 at the Active Participation Center of El Castillo de las Guardas, and five at the Hotel Montearoma in Valverde del Camino. These measures are in place due to the high risk in their residential areas.
Road traffic is also affected, with eleven roads closed to traffic in Huelva and Seville due to fire-related risks. Among the closed roads are the HU-3106, A-493, HU-5104, HU-4103, HU-6104, SE-6400, HU-6106, SE-6402, SE-5400, SE-538, and HU-6108.
The Military Emergencies Unit (UME) estimates that the fire has affected over 31,000 hectares, with a fire perimeter of approximately 120 kilometers. Lieutenant General Chief of the UME, Francisco Javier Marcos Izquierdo, expressed optimism regarding the reduced growth rate of the affected area in recent days, noting a decrease from 12,000 hectares in 24 hours three days ago, to 6,000 two days ago, and about 3,000 on Tuesday.
The UME has deployed over 250 military personnel and plans to reinforce resources if necessary. The Infoca operation includes more than 300 firefighters and various aerial and ground resources to continue combating the flames.
