The educational project 'Lorca, flamenco y rock', now in its fifth year at IES Fernando de los Ríos in Fuente Vaqueros, featured the participation of renowned artist Pasión Vega this year. The singer joined the institute's choir to give a new voice to 'Romance Pascual de los Pelegrinitos', a piece that Federico García Lorca recorded in 1931 with La Argentinita.
This initiative, aiming for continuity in the romance's interpretation, has been immortalized in a music video. Filming took place in emblematic locations such as the Federico García Lorca Birthplace Museum and various sites in the Granada countryside. In the video, the students themselves embody the characters, with technical production by the Curva Polar image and sound school in Granada.
Organizers highlighted the value of this alliance, not only for its musical quality but also for its ability to foster community. The initiative actively involves the institute, the Town Hall of Fuente Vaqueros, the CEP of Granada, and the Poet's Birthplace Museum.
“"In the end, what remains is the realization that public schools, when filled with audacity and surrounded by voices of this caliber, are capable of returning the people's own heritage, making children see Lorca not as a mandatory literature lesson, but as the neighbor who still sings to them."
Previous editions of the 'Lorca, flamenco y rock' project have seen collaborations with artists such as José Antonio García (vocalist of 091), Miguel Ríos, Anni B Sweet accompanied by José Cortés 'El Pirata', and Jairo Zavala (Depedro), who have interpreted other verses by the universal poet from Granada.
