The main objective of this initiative is to promote healthy lifestyles, foster community spirit, and revitalize life in the province's towns by facilitating access to sports in modern and safe facilities. The Deputy for Sports and Sports Facilities, Eric Escobedo, presented the call for applications, which has an initial allocation of 150,000 euros, expandable up to 250,000 euros if demand requires it.
The Provincial Council aims to ensure the development of sports practice in Granada's towns, bringing sports closer to citizens and improving quality of life. Escobedo highlighted that this aid line responds to a "constant demand" from town councils to renew their equipment and offer quality services, reinforcing the provincial institution's commitment to territorial sports development.
Sports are considered a fundamental tool for "fostering community spirit and revitalizing our towns." The grants will enable town councils to acquire new material essential for sports activities, active aging programs, inclusive initiatives, and projects aimed at children and youth.
The subsidies will cover a wide range of inventoryable equipment, for both conventional facilities and outdoor spaces. This includes basketball hoops, goals, scoreboards, benches, portable bleachers, mats, weights, fitness machines, adapted activity equipment, defibrillators, first aid kits, lane ropes, hydraulic pool chairs, wall bars, trampolines, and elements for health parks and calisthenics.
Funding can be supplemented by other administrations, and a progressive financing system will be applied, prioritizing municipalities with lower economic capacity. Local entities with up to 500 inhabitants can receive up to 95% of the cost, with percentages gradually decreasing to 65% for localities with 10,001 to 19,999 inhabitants. The maximum aid per application will be 3,000 euros.
