Brothers Carlos and Víctor Clavijo, who have strong ties to Algeciras, are gaining recognition for the short films produced by Pasión Films, their production company based in Andalusia. Their aim is to "create fiction with an Andalusian accent," according to Carlos Clavijo.
Their short film "La Cámara", written by Víctor Clavijo and starring him alongside Carolina Bona, recently received the Canal Sur Award for Andalusian Audiovisual Creation at the IV Sorihuela del Guadalimar Film Festival (Jaén). The film, a thrilling comedy about the importance of a photograph, has been selected for nine festivals, including those in Bilbao, Sabadell, and Islantilla (Huelva).
Another of their works, the drama "El pasajero", has been selected for competition in six highly competitive festivals in cities such as London, Moscow, and Bogotá (Colombia), as well as several Spanish cities. "I explore the concept of the fragmented world we inhabit: a space where hyperconnectivity often leads to profound isolation," states Carlos Clavijo.
"El pasajero" features performances by actors Richard Salamanca, Velilla Balbuena, and Juan Solo. Juan Solo, known for his roles in series like "Muertos SL" and "La que se avecina", also penned the screenplay. Salamanca has ten years of experience in the Spanish comedy circuit, while Valbuena appeared in the cult film "Historias del Kronen".
Carlos Clavijo founded Pasión Films, with its registered office in Málaga, in October 2025. "We aim to promote quality projects for national and international markets, utilizing Andalusian technicians," he explained.
The production company has several film projects in development slated for filming in Cádiz and Málaga, and also plans for series. The Clavijo brothers already have completed scripts for HBO Lationamericana.
Carlos Clavijo recently attended the Cannes film festival, where he negotiated financing for "Superpadres", a Spanish-Belgian-Irish co-production scheduled to be filmed in Granada. The project has the support of the University of Granada, the City Council, and the Chamber of Commerce of the city.
