The initiative, which will have 15% municipal co-financing, aims to promote the development of "innovative solutions" based on artificial intelligence and digital transformation to improve public services and city management.
The iQuantum project is conceived as a strategic commitment to connect knowledge from universities and research with citizen needs, creating a smart city model.
It will focus on key areas such as mobility, sustainability, energy efficiency, administrative digitalization, and improving citizens' quality of life.
Vito Epíscopo, Councilor for Innovation of the City Council of Granada, highlighted that the aid recognizes the work being done to make Granada a leader in local innovation and leverage the potential of AI.
This funding will accelerate the project, which seeks to consolidate a collaborative technological ecosystem among institutions, businesses, and the scientific community, with the support of the AI R&D Granada Foundation and the Andalusian Agency for Artificial Intelligence (ANIA).
Epíscopo stated that the project will attract talent, generate qualified employment, and turn the city into a reference point for developing innovative solutions with a direct impact on people's lives.
The initiative will strengthen Granada's technological ecosystem, which has seen significant growth in AI, digitalization, and innovation thanks to collaboration between the University of Granada, public administrations, research centers, and companies.
The councilor concluded that Granada possesses the knowledge, research capacity, talent, and strategy to lead the transformation towards a smarter and more efficient city.
