The Faculty of Translation and Interpreting at the University of Granada will host a meeting with Ukrainian writer Andrei Kurkov this Tuesday, May 19th. The event is part of the III Ukrainian Language and Culture Conference and will take place at 7:00 PM in the Conference Hall, with free admission until full capacity.
Andrei Kurkov is one of the most internationally translated Ukrainian authors. His work, spanning novels and essays, combines black humor, satire, and a deep reflection on the identity, history, and society of Ukraine. Among his best-known titles are Death with a Penguin, Grey Bees, and The Black Heart.
During the event, Kurkov will discuss his literary career, the role of literature in contexts of conflict, and the projection of Ukrainian culture in contemporary Europe. The conversation will be held in Ukrainian with simultaneous interpretation into Spanish and will feature the participation of University of Granada professors Simón Suárez Cuadros and Iryna Nichaienko. The author will also sign copies of his books before and after the event.
This meeting is an initiative jointly organized by the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting, the Center for Slavic Cultures, the Center for Development Cooperation Initiatives CICODE, and the Slavic Philology area of the Department of Greek Philology and Slavic Philology at the University of Granada.
