In the recent Plenary Session, significant economic contributions were approved to ensure equal opportunities and quality of life throughout the province. The Provincial and Road Plans, the associative fabric, funding for sports and healthy activities, and culture were boosted, alongside reaffirming support for the situation in Ceuta.
A key point was the increased investment in the Castala peri-urban park, in collaboration with the Berja Town Hall, with a provincial contribution of one million euros. This project aims to transform the space for tourism and environmental conservation.
Economic assistance was also approved for NGO projects, funding for the transport of the Provincial Sports Games, and for the production of documentaries on local history and traditions. In Zurgena, over 500,000 euros will be allocated to improving the Plaza del Olmo and a public park.
The Provincial Corporation approved a motion in support of Ceuta and Melilla, proclaiming the territorial integrity of Spain and demanding the immediate return to Morocco of those who have entered irregularly.
The approval of these works raises the total investment for modernizing the province's infrastructure to nearly 50 million euros for the 2024-2027 four-year period, driving over a hundred initiatives.
The Government Team Spokesperson, Carlos Sánchez, highlighted the importance of the approved points for the development of infrastructure, sports, culture, and social action, benefiting all residents of Almería and promoting equal opportunities.
The Road Plan received a new injection of 950,000 euros for actions in Níjar (550,000 euros), Armuña de Almanzora, Olula del Río, Somontín, and Uleila del Campo. Níjar receives a larger amount due to its extensive greenhouses and livestock farms.
This plan, with a historic investment of 14 million euros until 2027, aims to conserve and modernize the rural, agricultural, and livestock road network, including a new line for roads of social, heritage, and tourist interest.
Regarding support for the associative fabric, projects from NGOs were validated, including the textile waste collection network by Cáritas Koopera, the initiative ‘Nuestra frecuencia’ by the Altea Association for young people with ASD, and the program ‘Social Reintegration. Complementary Addictions’ by the Alba Association.
An investment of over 100,000 euros was ratified for the transport service for the Provincial Sports Games and the Senderos 2026 program, covering 100% of municipal requests to facilitate participation and promote equal opportunities.
