The Jubilee Year of El Rocío has completed its first month of celebration with a significant influx of devotees, registering nearly 17,000 attendances by the Pilgrim Assistance Office of the Hermandad Matriz. During these initial weeks, the office has welcomed numerous groups, mainly from Andalusia, and has issued approximately 500 plenary indulgence certificates.
This initial report focuses exclusively on the activity managed directly by the Office. Added to this figure is the constant flow of visitors and devotees who, individually, come to the Parish of Our Lady of the Assumption to encounter the Virgin of El Rocío during her nine-month stay in Almonte.
Brotherhoods, schools, parishes, and other groups have been among those attended, reflecting the intense activity and the diversity of origins and profiles that characterize this jubilee celebration.
Furthermore, since last weekend, the annual pilgrimage calendar for the brotherhoods and associations of El Rocío has begun. These are coordinated by the Pilgrimage Delegation of the Hermandad Matriz and, this year, their destination is the Almonte parish rather than the marshland sanctuary.
During the Jubilee Year, devotees can obtain plenary indulgence by making a pilgrimage to the Virgin and praying before her, in addition to fulfilling the usual conditions established by the Church: receiving the sacrament of confession, participating in the Eucharist, receiving communion, and praying for the Pope's intentions, with a sincere disposition of conversion.
The Pilgrim Assistance Office issues the plenary indulgence certificate, a document that the faithful can also keep as a memento of their pilgrimage to the feet of the Patroness of Almonte.
The El Rocío Pilgrim Assistance Office is located in the Museum of the Town, next to the Social Headquarters of the Hermandad Matriz and a few meters from the Parish of Our Lady of the Assumption, at Sebastián Conde street, number 8. It is open from Wednesday to Saturday, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM and from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and on Sundays, from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM and from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
