The Social Services of the Isla Cristina City Council have concluded the Summer Workshops, an initiative that during July and August offered 15 minors a program of educational, sports, cultural, and leisure activities.

The Plenary Hall of the City Council hosted the closing ceremony, where the minors, their families, professionals, and municipal representatives celebrated two months of coexistence, learning, and shared experiences. The main objective of these workshops was to provide a healthy leisure space different from the usual intervention environment, promoting equal opportunities.
The workshops were led and coordinated by Rocío Pérez Fernández, SECORE team psychologist; Rocío Macías, ETF social educator; and Ernesto Algarra, monitor from the 21 Horas Association. They worked on key aspects for personal and social development such as self-esteem, autonomy, social skills, communication, and emotion management, in a more natural and close context.
Throughout the summer, participants enjoyed various activities in Isla Cristina and the province of Huelva, including sessions at the Wind Zone Sailing School, archery with the Club la Flecha Isleña, visits to Aquópolis de Cartaya, Isla Mágica, the Muelle de las Carabelas, and the Nuevo Mundo Suspended Forest Park, as well as 3D printing workshops and boat trips.
The closing ceremony, held on August 26th, was attended by the Councilor for Social Services, Gerardo Ramos, and the Councilor for Sports and Youth, Álex Boa. Each minor received a diploma and a backpack with school supplies as recognition for their participation. A summary video of the activities was screened, and a communal dinner was shared.
Gerardo Ramos highlighted the importance of these initiatives in offering opportunities for growth and discovery to minors, noting that social intervention can be developed through coexistence and positive experiences. Álex Boa reaffirmed the City Council's priority for children and youth, promoting spaces for sports, culture, and healthy leisure.
Thanks were extended to various entities such as USISA, the Wind Zone Sailing School, Club La Flecha Isleña, the 21 horas association, the Real Betis Balompié Foundation (which donated sports kits), and J. García Carrión, S.A. – Don Simón (which donated juices). The involvement of these entities underscores the importance of collaboration in generating opportunities and building a more inclusive Isla Cristina.
