The Sanlúcar City Council continues to promote the elimination of street-level trash bag deposits, an initiative launched last April that has already yielded positive results in over twenty streets. This commitment, driven by Mayor Carmen Álvarez, aims to advance towards a more orderly and efficient waste management model for the city.
The Delegate for Infrastructure, David Cáceres, expressed gratitude for the collaboration from the merchants' association of Barrameda Street and the Association of Small and Medium Enterprises of Sanlúcar (Apysan). Cáceres highlighted that "by eliminating street-level deposits, we seek a cleaner Sanlúcar, and we are doing so with concrete measures like this one."
This initiative, aligned with European regulations, is accompanied by actions to facilitate adaptation for residents and businesses. The City Council is distributing informative brochures door-to-door and is increasing or adapting containers to ensure nearby deposit points.
The progressive removal of street-level deposits aims to end the accumulation of waste at the entrances of homes and establishments, prevent bad odors and dirt, curb the proliferation of pests, and improve the street's image, especially in central areas with significant commercial activity and foot traffic.
The Delegate for Infrastructure reiterated the local government's call to citizens to use the designated containers responsibly. "Some uncivil behaviors persist, which go against what the municipal government is doing. Cleanliness is a shared responsibility," stated David Cáceres.
