The mayor of Sanlúcar, Carmen Álvarez, announced the provisional approval of this state aid, communicated via a provisional resolution. The subsidy, allocated by the Ministries of Housing and Urban Agenda, Transport and Sustainable Mobility, and Culture, is earmarked for the renovation of the Palace's architectural complex.
Securing this grant, which the council applied for three times, is the result of extensive efforts by Carmen Álvarez with various ministries. The initiative aims to recover and enhance the city's historical heritage by intervening in these buildings to prevent their deterioration and create a cultural space accessible to residents and visitors.
The Orleans-Borbón Palace, declared a Site of Cultural Interest (BIC), houses the Guardia Pavilion or Library and the old Guard House, structures that are an integral part of the monument. The planned intervention seeks to restore these areas, which are currently in a state of disrepair.
This project complements the €2,801,231 investment from the Doñana Agreement, designated for the rehabilitation and energy optimization of other parts of the Municipal Palace, including the Noble Zone, the Páez House, and the Municipal Archive. The mayor highlighted the local government's commitment to restoring abandoned sections of this emblematic building, which serves as the City Council's main headquarters.
