This week marked the twentieth anniversary of the death of Rocío Jurado, one of Spain's most iconic artists. Her daughter, Gloria Camila, chose to honor her memory on the television show 'El tiempo justo', where she is a regular collaborator. This tribute comes shortly after another dedication to the singer in her hometown, Chipiona.
Gloria Camila, who was only 10 years old when her mother passed away, shared how she received the news. She recounted that on that day there was "a lot of commotion" at her aunt Mari Carmen's house and that she woke up early to go to school. "I went to tell them, and that's when my aunt and cousin came to the room to tell me that my mother had now gone to heaven, that she was another star," she explained.
The television personality believes that the best tribute to her mother, two decades after her departure, is to "try to maintain that family unity that she would have maintained." She added that she also honors the artist by "being a better person day by day and remembering her mother both in the family and artistic aspects."
However, Gloria Camila did not anticipate the strong intervention by Jorge Javier Vázquez during the transition from his program 'El diario de Jorge' to 'El tiempo justo'. After the handover by Joaquín Prat, the presenter made a clear statement of support for Rocío Jurado and Rocío Carrasco, Gloria Camila's sister, with whom she has no relationship and who did not attend the tribute in Chipiona. "I am pro Rocío Jurado and pro Rocío Carrasco. Let it be known," he stated.
