Fundación Unicaja has announced significant funding for the expansion of the carpentry workshop managed by Upacesur in Jerez, a project focused on individuals with disabilities. This initiative will allow for the incorporation of technological equipment and the enhancement of training provided to the 52 users of the occupational center.
The initiative, part of the foundation's social action call, aims to boost the personal, social, and labor skills of the participants. The investment will focus on acquiring digital tools and technological equipment to modernize production processes, optimize quality, and diversify the range of products made in the workshop.
According to the information provided, the equipment upgrade seeks to strengthen the pre-vocational aspect of the activity, facilitating the acquisition of skills geared towards employability. The project will not only modernize the facilities in Jerez de la Frontera but also extend some of its activities to the Occupational Center in Trebujena, thereby increasing the number of beneficiaries.
Javier Vela, head of Fundación Unicaja in Cádiz, visited the facilities accompanied by Rafael Márquez, managing director of Upacesur, and Sandra Amo, director of the occupational center in Jerez. During the visit, they gained firsthand insight into the workshop's operations and the planned improvements.
Upacesur, a non-profit organization founded in the seventies and led by families of individuals with multiple disabilities, currently supports 1,128 families and employs 275 professionals. The carpentry workshop is one of its key occupational resources for promoting personal autonomy and social integration.
The entity believes this expansion represents a significant reinforcement of its training offerings and a necessary update to adapt occupational resources to increasingly technologized work environments, consolidating the activity in the coming years.
