The town of Molvízar in Granada experienced a scare last night due to a fire near their houses. As a precautionary measure and due to the risk of spread, the fireworks display planned for the Santa Ana festivities was canceled.
This incident occurred just 24 hours after another scare from a fire in Pinos del Valle. The flames originated in an area within the municipality of Molvízar, an inland town on Granada's Costa Tropical.
The fire alert was received around 1:20 PM this Sunday. Infoca Plan personnel, provincial consortium firefighters, firefighters from Almuñécar, the Guardia Civil, and local and regional police forces were deployed to the site. An Infoca helicopter also participated in the extinguishing efforts.
Fortunately, the fire, which was close to homes, appears to have been a scare. This Sunday marks the main day of Molvízar's patron saint festivities in honor of Santa Ana.
