“"I want to convey a message of calm to all citizens concerned about this situation. At this time, we will initiate the sanctioning procedure, complying with all the deadlines and guarantees established by the regulations, and we want to make it clear that if the property does not proceed with the cleaning, the City Council will act with the city's urban services, subsequently demanding the cleaning costs from the owners of the commercial park. We will not allow this situation to represent even a single cent of cost to the residents of Motril."

The Motril City Council has issued two formal notices to the owners of the Motril Retail Park, located next to the Rambla de las Brujas, demanding they clean the premises due to persistent lack of maintenance.
The Deputy Mayor for Urban Quality, Juan Fernando Hernández, reported on the situation of the commercial complex, which is privately owned. Given the owners' inaction, the council has initiated a sanctioning procedure and warns that if they fail to comply, the City Council will undertake the cleaning and charge the cost to the owners.
The Motril Retail Park, a place with high daily footfall due to its concentration of businesses, has received numerous citizen complaints, especially during the summer, regarding the cleanliness of its parking areas and surroundings.
Hernández reiterated that the responsibility for maintenance lies with the owners, who must ensure the facilities are kept in adequate conditions of cleanliness and upkeep. The area has been monitored by the municipal Technical Services following concerns raised by citizens.
Two formal communications have been sent to the owners: the first in July and a second in August, due to the lack of response and the persistence of the problem.
The deputy mayor emphasized the council's commitment to the proper maintenance of the municipality, reminding that the image of Motril is everyone's responsibility, including owners of private spaces intended for public use.
