The third edition of the 'Alégrate el verano' program arrives in Motril with a proposal exceeding one hundred activities designed to invigorate the lives of residents and visitors during the months of July and August 2026.
The cycle aims to offer cultural, leisure, and sports content for all audiences, including concerts, summer cinema, children's activities, workshops, proposals for young people and families, as well as the Patron Saint Festivals.
Playa de Poniente served as the chosen venue for the official presentation, where the mayor, Luisa García Chamorro, accompanied by the Deputy Mayor for Beaches, José Peña, and the Councilor for Education, Mayte Jiménez, highlighted the importance of summer for Motril.
García Chamorro emphasized that this year is special for Motril's beaches, mentioning the recovery of the Blue Flag at Playa de Poniente as a significant achievement that elevates the coastline to the city's deserving standard.
José Peña detailed that this third edition's program features 'more activities, more proposals, and more reasons to enjoy our city,' aiming to make Motril an attractive and vibrant destination.
The sports offerings include yoga and aquagym at Playa Granada and Playa de Poniente, as well as special events like the Gran Fiesta del Agua on August 30th and water sports sessions.
For the youngest attendees, four major free shows have been organized, featuring sing-alongs, magic, and themed Disney inflatables on two special days.
Music will play a prominent role with the Cadena Dial concert on July 2nd at Plaza de la Coronación, the Festival de los Patios Flamencos, and performances by local talent such as Marina Aijón, the Escuela de Baile Mercedes Martín, Moving Jazz, Festival Rey Balduino, Paco Candela, Tributo a El Barrio, and the Ciclo de Eventos Urbano.
The Biblioplayas initiative returns with two book lending points at Playa de Poniente and Playa Granada, offering over 300 works from various genres and authors including Arturo Pérez Reverte and Megan Maxwell.
Summer cinema screenings will take place at Playa de Poniente, Playa Granada, and the Parque de los Pueblos de América, complementing the program with neighborhood festivals and the Motril 2026 Patron Saint Festivals.
