The Motril council held an extraordinary plenary session where the allocation of these funds was approved, aiming to boost the town's urban and economic development. Of the 8 million approved, 4 million will be dedicated to strategic projects aligned with European funds, such as the archaeological work at the Plaza de la Tenería and the project planning for La Fabriquilla.
The mayor, Luisa García Chamorro, highlighted that this is the last batch of treasury reserves approved, made possible by "good management" of municipal financial resources. She noted that, after years of positive reserves, these funds are being invested in "necessary" improvements for citizens' lives.
The remaining 4 million euros will be invested in "fundamental works for Motril's progress," focusing on street improvements, thanks to the work of municipal technicians and contributions from residents and opposition parties. The mayor reiterated the governing team's commitment to "continue building the city we all want".
This final batch joins the two previous ones, bringing the total allocated to the improvement of public infrastructure, parks and playgrounds, municipal educational centers, and the reinforcement of municipal services to 12 million euros.
