The Guardia Civil has marked the end of its 182nd anniversary commemoration, concluding a week of events in Almuñécar. The town hosted various exhibitions, meetings, talks, and demonstrations related to the Civil Guard, particularly focusing on the Sixth Company that operates in the Costa Tropical region.
The main ceremony took place in Abderramán I Square, where a military parade concluded the week's activities. The event, a success in terms of organization and citizen participation, was attended by authorities including the Government's sub-delegate in Granada, José Antonio Montilla Martos, the chief colonel of the Guardia Civil Command in Granada, Francisco Javier Arteaga, the Minister of Development of the Junta de Andalucía, Rocío Díaz, and the mayor of Almuñécar, Juan José Ruiz Joya, among other civil and military representatives.
Mayor Juan José Ruiz Joya highlighted Almuñécar's pride in hosting this provincial commemoration and emphasized the municipality's capacity as a tourist, cultural, and organizational benchmark. He underscored the Guardia Civil's commitment and proximity to citizens, strengthening the bond and recognition of the corps' daily work.
The Granada Command praised the institutional collaboration and the involvement of the Almuñécar City Council in organizing the events. The final military parade featured various branches of the provincial Guardia Civil, including Traffic, Public Security, Maritime Service, Air Unit, Seprona, GEAS, among others.
The event also included the presentation of decorations, a tribute to fallen officers, the performance of the Guardia Civil anthem, and a parade by the Honor Guard Unit, marking the culmination of the celebration.
