The municipality of Torremolinos has received the 2026 Andalusia Tourism Award in the Excellent Coastal Tourist Destination category. The recognition, granted by the Junta de Andalucía in Huelva, highlights the municipality's trajectory, excellence, and evolution towards a diversified and sustainable tourism system.
The award values Torremolinos' contribution to Andalusian tourism development, promoting a model based on sustainability, social cohesion, the identity values of Andalusia, and the continuous improvement of quality. The mayor, Margarita del Cid, and the second vice-president and counselor of Tourism, Manuel Gavira, attended the event held at the Auditorium of the Casa Colón.

Mayor Margarita del Cid emphasized that the award represents pride and an incentive to continue moving forward, noting that Torremolinos is a consolidated destination working to face future challenges and adapt to new travel demands. She highlighted that the award encourages continued commitment to a more sustainable, innovative, and higher-quality tourism model.
The Junta de Andalucía justified the award by Torremolinos' capacity as a pioneering municipality, its constant renewal, innovative offerings, commitment to the territory, and adaptation to new traveler demands, reinforcing its position as a benchmark destination.
This recognition highlights Torremolinos' trajectory as one of Andalusia's main tourist destinations. In the Excellent Coastal Tourist Destination category, the Intermunicipal Commonwealth of Islantilla (Huelva) and the City Council of Mojácar (Almería) were also nominated.
The 2026 Andalusia Tourism Awards, promoted by the Ministry of Tourism of the Junta de Andalucía, annually recognize individuals, companies, institutions, and destinations that stand out for their contribution, quality, and excellence within the Andalusian tourism sector.
