The temporary union of companies (UTE) CARP Mijas Dorronsoro has been selected to draft the project for the High-Resolution Process Center (CARP) to be built in Las Lagunas. The Mijas City Council has formalized the contract for 447,700 euros, which will allow for the definition of the design, volume, and facilities of this new healthcare center.
The future CARP will offer specialties such as cardiology, pulmonology, pediatrics, gynecology, ophthalmology, dermatology, speech therapy, major and minor ambulatory surgery, in addition to midwives and 24-hour emergency services. As Infrastructure Councilor Juanjo Torres recalled, this center is expected to cover 85% of the municipality's healthcare demand.
The initial budget for this project was 625,000 euros, meaning the awarded contract represents a reduction of almost 30%. The UTE Mijas Dorronsoro will have 150 calendar days to complete the construction project, broken down into preliminary design (30 days), basic project (60 days), and execution project along with the Health and Safety study (60 days).
The center will be located on the plot known as ‘Parque de Las Lagunas II’, bordered by Comares Avenue and Algatocín, Benajarafe, and Antonio García Moreno streets. The project must include climatological and hydrological studies of the area, as well as landscaping, paving, public services, and necessary equipment. The preliminary geotechnical report has already been completed by the City Council.
The work will be coordinated with the Andalusian Health Service (SAS) and the company Acosol, responsible for water supply and sewerage. The project will develop the justification report and the functional needs program approved by the SAS, defining separate access points for different activities and proposing a design adaptable to health emergencies.
Sustainable development criteria will be applied to limit energy consumption, and an underground parking area of over 12,000 square meters with capacity for approximately 400 vehicles is planned, in addition to an above-ground parking area for another 150 cars.
