Torremolinos celebrated today the swearing-in ceremony for eleven new Local Police officers, who have joined through open selection. They are joined by one officer who transferred to the force. This marks the first time in 20 years that the municipality has seen an increase in its local police numbers.
The mayor of Torremolinos, Margarita del Cid, accompanied by the Councilor for Security, Cristóbal Molina, presided over the welcome ceremony. The new officers have successfully completed the selection process, their training, and the required practical period.
This influx of personnel will allow for an increased police presence on the streets, enhanced preventive surveillance, and improved citizen service, particularly during the peak tourist months when the municipality's population significantly grows.
The City Council plans to recruit twelve more officers soon, meaning a total of 24 new officers will be integrated into the force by the end of the current term. This personnel reinforcement complements the technical and operational improvements implemented in recent years, including the new Emergency Control Center, a modernized IT management system, and the planned renewal of the police vehicle fleet.
