The council has organized two observation points to facilitate safe, orderly, and accessible enjoyment of the phenomenon for citizens. 1,000 certified glasses will be distributed free of charge at both locations.
Cañada del Lobo will offer an experience linked to the natural environment, while Parque de la Batería is configured as an urban, accessible, and family-friendly point. Both sites will welcome the public from 6:30 PM.
The Councilor for the Environment, Francisco Cerdán, highlighted the desire to "facilitate that residents and visitors can enjoy an exceptional event in two emblematic places of Torremolinos, but do so with planning, safety, and especially respecting the natural environment of Cañada del Lobo".
Chairs will be installed at Parque de La Batería for greater comfort. At Cañada del Lobo, special attention will be paid to protecting the natural environment and preventing fires. The refuge will be open from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM for restroom use.
The Local Police, Civil Protection, and forest rangers will coordinate the event to ensure it proceeds without incident and to care for the natural environment. Aselimsa and Litosa will also collaborate.
The eclipse will be a high-intensity partial eclipse, beginning around 7:43 PM and reaching its maximum phase around 8:38 PM, when nearly 95% of the solar disk will be obscured.
The City Council reminds the public of the importance of not looking directly at the Sun without adequate protection and supervising minors. Only certified specific glasses should be used, as conventional sunglasses do not offer safety.
For those ascending to Cañada del Lobo, it is recommended to do so in advance, bring a flashlight for the night descent, closed-toe hiking shoes with good grip, plenty of water for hydration, and appropriate clothing, considering that temperatures drop rapidly after nightfall in the mountains.
