The 40th edition of the Villa de Mijas Theatre Festival will be held from September 24th to 27th, offering four performances with free admission at the municipal auditorium Miguel González Berral. This cultural event, one of the most anticipated of the year in the municipality, will feature plays ranging from drama to humor and contemporary opera.
The Councillor for Culture, Juan Carlos Maldonado, highlighted the quality of the scheduled plays, emphasizing the City Council's commitment to culture as a unifying element for residents. "This long-standing festival is proof of that," he stated.
The program begins on Thursday, September 24th, with the local company Teatro Mijas and their tribute to Lorca, 'Eterno Lorca', which will include pieces from works such as 'La casa de Bernarda Alba' and 'Bodas de sangre'.
On Friday the 25th, actress María Galiana, accompanied by Nieve de Medina, Anna Mayo, and María Roja, will present 'Yo sólo quiero irme a Francia' (I Just Want to Go to France), a bittersweet comedy about identity and emotional inheritance.
On Saturday the 26th, 'Survival' will be performed, an apocalyptic comedy filled with irony and reflections on global collapse and moral confusion, starring Abel Manso.
The festival will conclude on Sunday the 27th with 'The ópera locos', an internationally projected comic operatic show that blends major hits from the genre with other styles and physical comedy.
All performances will begin at 9:00 PM in the open-air auditorium.
