New Supermarket in Córdoba: Mercadona Advances in Huerta de Santa Isabel

The supermarket chain Mercadona is close to obtaining approval for the concession of a nearly 9,500 square meter plot in Huerta de Santa Isabel, Córdoba, intended for a new commercial establishment.

The Municipal Urban Planning Management of Córdoba is expected to give its approval next week for the concession of a 9,485 square meter plot. This land, located in the Huerta de Santa Isabel neighborhood, is designated for the construction of a new supermarket by the Valencian company, aiming to serve the needs of future residents in this expanding area.
The municipal-owned plot is situated within the Partial Plan O-4 Huerta de Santa Isabel Oeste and is zoned for commercial equipment. Although it already has a favorable report from the technical director of the GMU, it has been noted that its use could be adapted for social, educational, or sports purposes, depending on the area's needs. The proposal will be ratified next Tuesday by the Governing Council.
Mercadona's project envisions a standalone commercial building that will house the supermarket and an attached car park. The structure will feature two above-ground floors: the ground floor, at street level, will be entirely dedicated to parking and communication cores, while the sales area and other supermarket facilities will be located on the first floor. A second open-air floor will be used for industrial refrigeration and air conditioning machinery, and the roof will be equipped with photovoltaic panels.
The car park will offer a total of 240 spaces, with 98 under the building's slab, 61 covered by canopies, and 81 uncovered. The commercial floor's placement on the first level allows for a surface car park on a single ground level, making it convenient and accessible for both pedestrians and vehicles. The building will have two vehicle entrances and exits, and three pedestrian accesses. It will also include seven charging spaces for electric vehicles, eight adapted for people with reduced mobility, and 24 for bicycles.
The design of vehicle and pedestrian access aims to optimize service for the significant residential and amenity development planned for this new urbanization, ensuring a safe and intuitive experience for new residents and users. This project also reflects the company's commitment to energy efficiency, waste management, circular economy, and sustainable mobility.
