Heat has become one of the main health concerns in the province of Córdoba this summer. Despite some days with more moderate temperatures, the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has issued a yellow heat warning for the upcoming Thursday and Friday, with forecasts predicting temperatures to reach 43 ºC in the capital by the end of this week and the beginning of the next.
This weather scenario is leading to an increase in heat-related health problems. According to the latest data from the Daily Mortality Monitoring (MoMo) system, between July 1st and 14th, 15 deaths in the province of Córdoba have been directly attributed to high temperatures. Added to this are the 17 deaths registered since June.
These figures highlight the direct impact of an extreme heat episode that, while affecting the region on other occasions, had not done so so early in the summer. Ten consecutive days exceeding 40 ºC across the Cordoban territory have had a significant effect on the population.
