The Infoca Plan has elevated the firefighting emergency to level 1 operational phase in the province of Córdoba due to the evolution of the forest fire declared in the Cerro Muriano area. The fire, which started after a truck with a straw-laden trailer caught fire on the N-432 road, has reached the vegetation of the Sierra Cordobesa.
An extensive firefighting operation is underway, with 70 ground personnel supported by water trucks and aerial resources, including planes and helicopters. The Infoca Plan is directing the emergency on the ground, while personnel from the Fire Prevention, Extinction, and Rescue Service (Speis) of the Córdoba City Council are collaborating in the efforts.
The N-432 road remains closed to traffic to facilitate firefighting operations and ensure safety. Local Police have established a detour via the CO-3408 road. Due to the possibility of the fire affecting nearby homes, preventive evacuations have been carried out, and the civic center of Cerro Muriano has been set up as an assistance point for those affected.
Authorities have urged the public to follow the instructions of emergency services, avoid approaching the affected area, and keep doors and windows closed in nearby homes to prevent smoke from entering. The mayor of Córdoba has visited the advanced command post to coordinate actions.
