The president of the Provincial Council of Córdoba, Salvador Fuentes, accompanied by the president of the Firefighters Consortium, Antonio Martín, unveiled the first of a series of four trucks that will be deployed to the fire stations in Baena, Priego, Peñarroya-Pueblonuevo, and Montoro. These vehicles are specifically designed to operate in urban settings with narrow streets and unique historic centers.
The first vehicle presented was acquired with a budget of 230,000 euros. Fuentes stated that efforts will continue to ensure the remaining three trucks are operational as soon as possible, thereby fulfilling a key objective to improve the efficiency of the fire departments.
The head of the provincial institution highlighted that the investment calendar for the Consortium is being met, not only through the acquisition of this new vehicle but also via facility upgrades, the integration of renewable energy, and the implementation of generators to ensure independent energy capacity.
Fuentes emphasized the commitment to providing provincial fire stations with the necessary infrastructure for optimal operational conditions, announcing the upcoming arrival of state-of-the-art equipment such as extrication tools.
This new lightweight urban pumper (BUL) is distinguished by its compact dimensions, comparable to a passenger car, which facilitates maneuverability in narrow streets where conventional trucks often cannot navigate. It has a water reserve capacity of 1000 liters, sufficient for initial fire suppression in urban incidents, enabling rapid response and containment of fire spread.
The vehicle is equipped with specialized materials for such interventions, including self-contained breathing apparatus, an infrared thermal camera for detecting hot spots, a detector for toxic and flammable gases, oxygen deficiency sensors, door and grate opening tools, and a smoke evacuation fan.
