The University of Córdoba hosted a new edition of ‘De Patios por Europa’, an initiative aimed at bringing the European Union closer to citizens through spaces for encounter and reflection. The event, held in the cloister patio of the Faculty of Law and Economic and Business Sciences, focused on the meaning of being an EU citizen and the associated rights.
Under the title ‘European Citizenship: A Space of Rights and Freedoms’, the meeting featured presentations and the exchange of ideas. The delegate for European Funds, Ana Rosa Ruz, highlighted that these forums “allow us to create a meeting space with the citizens of our province, fostering knowledge and debate on the challenges and policies of the European Union”. She also emphasized the role of Europe Direct Córdoba in disseminating European information.
The researcher from the University of Córdoba and winner of the XIX Andalusian Research Award on European Integration, Estrella María Montes, delved into the legal and practical aspects of European citizenship. The session underscored the importance of cooperation between entities such as Europe Direct Province of Córdoba, Europe Direct Andalucía Rural, and the European Documentation Centre of the University of Córdoba.
Ana Rosa Ruz insisted that the collaboration between these three entities is an example of joint work to strengthen the dissemination of European information and promote spaces for reflection and debate on the European project. The goal is to foster greater understanding and promote informed citizens aware of their rights.
