The activity, inspired by the European project ATTRACTISS, transformed the complex concept of agri-food innovation ecosystems into an interactive game for children. Through a matching dynamic, participants identified the different key actors in the innovation process.
Farmers and producers, researchers, universities, advisors, and the public occupied positions on a symbolic wheel. The objective was to illustrate that agricultural innovation goes beyond technological development in laboratories; it requires the contribution of knowledge, experiences, and needs from all involved for solutions to truly meet the demands of the field.
Once the game was completed, the activity materialized into a visual representation of a rotating wheel, where each actor found its place. This setup allowed for a simple explanation of one of ATTRACTISS's central ideas: strengthening Innovation Support Services (ISS) and improving the connection among the different actors forming the Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation Systems (AKIS).
In addition to the 'Wheel of Innovation,' the ceiA3 stand at the Fair of Ingenuities presented other European initiatives aimed at addressing future challenges in the agri-food sector, also through games for children. Projects like dynADVICE aim to strengthen agricultural advisory networks in Europe through training and digital tools, while GreenSTEM focuses on innovation and entrepreneurship in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics for a green circular economy, including sustainable business models and the valorization of agri-food waste.
Although these projects differ, they share a fundamental principle: agri-food innovation requires knowledge, collaboration, and people capable of turning ideas into practical solutions.
