The recognition was presented during an event organized for the Day of Cooperating Persons. Area delegate, José Luis García, stated that the award is both an honor and a commitment, highlighting the efforts of cooperating individuals, social entities, and professionals working towards a fairer world. "Behind development cooperation, there are not only administrations, projects, or financial resources. There are people, entities, and professionals who dedicate their knowledge, their time, and often, part of their lives to working for others," he affirmed.
García emphasized the role of local governments as fundamental actors in decentralized cooperation, underscoring the Seville City Council's commitment to solidarity and human rights. "The responsibility of a public institution does not end within its territorial borders. We live in a deeply interconnected world, and therefore, solidarity cannot be bound by borders either," he stated, stressing the importance of collaboration among administrations, non-governmental organizations, social entities, and universities.
The delegate noted that this award is a collective recognition for all individuals and organizations that make international cooperation possible, especially those working on the ground. "From the Seville City Council, we want to continue advancing and making cooperation a tool to transform realities and build a world where no one is left behind," concluded García.
