The Vice-Rector for Healthy Campus and Sport at UPO, Antonio Fernández Martínez, accompanied by Gemma García and Mª José Lagares from the Sport Service and Vice-Rectorate, presented the UPO Sport Talent program. This initiative aims to support young individuals with sporting potential who wish to balance their academic studies with their athletic activities.
The program is based on four pillars: academic support measures and flexible scheduling for training and competition; free access to the campus sports facilities and technical advice; financial aid such as accommodation grants, university dining hall vouchers, and direct subsidies; and career guidance to boost the professional development of the athletes.
To access these benefits, students must apply for recognition as an EDER-UPO athlete through the Sport Service website. This recognition is intended for DAN-DAR students enrolled in undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs.
Additionally, the call for economic aid for internships in 2026, linked to UPO Sport Talent, is open for High-Level, High-Performance, or EDER-UPO recognized athletes. The application deadline is October 2nd.
The Pablo de Olavide University joins the European Week of Sport 2026, celebrated from September 23rd to 30th under the slogan ‘Be Active your way’. This European Commission initiative aims to promote physical activity and encourage active lifestyles, inviting people to incorporate movement into their daily lives.
The campaign, launched in 2015, seeks to combat physical inactivity and encourages everyone to find their own way to stay active. In 2025, the initiative gathered over 15.1 million participants across Europe. UPO thus promotes a week where sport, well-being, equality, and university coexistence take center stage on campus.
