The event, taking place on Thursday, October 1st, will feature a special exhibition showcasing over five centuries of the Cartujano horse's history. This presentation aims to introduce the audience to the historical legacy and importance of this lineage in shaping the Spanish horse.
The Cartujano horse, whose history is intrinsically linked to Jerez de la Frontera and the Carthusian Order since the late 15th century, represents one of the fundamental roots of the Spanish horse. The selection and breeding work of the Carthusian monks produced highly valued specimens, whose genetics have endured to this day.
Yeguada Cartuja Hierro del Bocado, managed by the public company EXPASA and linked to state heritage, safeguards and enhances this unique legacy. Its mission goes beyond preserving specimens, preserving a genetic, historical, cultural, and equestrian heritage of Spain.
Under the title “Yeguada Cartuja: five centuries of the Cartujano horse,” the exhibition in Gines will symbolically trace the lineage's history. It will begin by evoking its origins with the Carthusian monks, continue with the traditional mare herd, an iconic image of the stud farm, and conclude with a High School pas de deux, demonstrating the elegance and harmony between horse and rider.
This proposal, which combines culture, heritage, and equestrian spectacle, will allow the audience in Gines to experience firsthand the significance of preserving a lineage with over five centuries of history, transmitting knowledge, traditions, and values.
