The Seville City Council has taken a significant step towards administrative modernization with the definitive approval of regulations for teleworking for its municipal employees. This agreement, negotiated with union sections, prioritizes digitalization, improved working conditions, and the guarantee of citizen services. A 12-month trial period will begin with one day of teleworking per week, ensuring mandatory presence and establishing an equitable rotation system that will prioritize workers with reduced mobility, those over 60, family reconciliation, and residents outside the municipality. The measure will involve the progressive replacement of desktop computers with corporate laptops.
Regarding emergency infrastructure, technical assistance has been awarded for the development of two geotechnical studies on municipal plots. One will house the new Fire Station P-3 in Pino Montano, and the other, adjacent to Fire Station P-4 in the P.I.C.A. Business Park, will accommodate a new infrastructure building and the comprehensive renovation of the existing station, works that had been stalled for six years. Concurrently, improvements are being made to current facilities, such as at the Central Station (P-2) and the South Station (P-5).
To enhance the new TB1 rapid transit line, which will connect Torreblanca-Seville Este with Plaza del Duque starting September 28th, a plot in Torreblanca has been allocated for the construction of a surface park-and-ride facility. This parking area, located in the Polígono Aeropuerto with capacity for over 250 vehicles (including PMR spaces, motorcycles, and bicycles), will be operational in January 2027 and aims to facilitate public transport use.
The city will receive a sculpture by international artist Fernando Oriol through a collaboration agreement with the Alejandro Rojas Marcos Foundation. The final step has been taken to commence construction of the new crematorium building at the San Fernando Cemetery. The contract, awarded for €806,564.68, will enable the construction of a 486 m² building housing three renovated crematorium furnaces and necessary facilities, modernizing installations that have been in service for over four decades.
A municipal plot in Sevilla Este, at Profesor Faustino Gutiérrez Alviz street, No. 8, has been granted for the construction and management of a day care center for people with intellectual disabilities, initiated by the Paz y Bien Association. This concession, which requires an annual fee from the concessionaire, makes municipal property available to citizen organizations for social purposes.
The civic agent service, known as 'serenos' (watchmen), will be extended for another year, until September 30, 2027, with an investment of over 2.1 million euros. The service, which began in December 2023 with 18 agents, currently has 70 agents and 3 coordinators deployed in 34 areas of the city, having carried out over 370 escorts and 800 alerts in the first half of 2026.
Four million euros are allocated for the improvement of FIBES, Seville's Conference and Exhibition Center. Works include the renovation of the flooring in pavilions 1 and 3 (€800,000), installation of new automatic doors (€320,040), replacement of air curtains (€180,000), renovation of the technical floor of the FIBES 2 Auditorium stage (€65,000), waterproofing of FIBES 2 roofs (€1,200,000), and a video surveillance system (€377,491.93).
