The Mayor of Seville, José Luis Sanz, has wished a successful start to the school year for the educational community and emphasized an investment of over 25 million euros in three years to improve the city's public schools.

The mayor visited the schools Las Irlandesas de Bami, Padres Blancos, and CEIP Tartessos this Thursday. At the latter, located in Sevilla Este, the City Council has carried out comprehensive improvements, including painting the entire center and enhancing three Early Childhood Education areas in the playgrounds.
Sanz underscored the municipal government's effort to improve the condition of public educational centers, ending years of neglect in maintenance and investment. "Today the school year begins, and once again, from the municipal government, we continue working to improve our public schools," he stated.
The mayor recalled that investing in schools was a priority from the start of his term. "In recent months alone, we have refurbished 49 schools with an investment of 5.6 million euros, which are part of the 25 million allocated to our public schools over these three years," he noted.
As an example of these actions, he cited the intervention at CEIP Tartessos, which has comprehensively improved the center's appearance and conditions through painting and the adaptation of three Early Childhood Education areas in the playgrounds.
Sanz emphasized that the City Council's commitment extends beyond construction work to ensuring daily maintenance and cleaning. "Caring for a school is not just about construction. It's about maintaining and looking after it every day. And we have also sought to change things in that regard," he affirmed.
In this context, Seville's 108 public schools will benefit this academic year from the Plan Colegios Limpios (Clean Schools Plan), a new cleaning model featuring individualized planning tailored to each center's facilities and needs. This plan includes a minimum of 389 cleaning staff, nearly doubling the previous workforce, and extends cleaning services to morning hours and weekends, utilizing state-of-the-art machinery and enhanced monitoring.
"Each school has its own cleaning plan, adapted to its reality, facilities, and needs. We have reinforced staff, introduced morning and weekend cleaning, new machinery, and greater control and monitoring to adapt the service to each center's actual requirements," explained Sanz.
"That is our commitment: to care for our schools every day and continue improving them. While there is still much to be done, we are progressing so that our children have the public schools they deserve," he added.
Finally, the mayor extended his congratulations to the entire educational community of Seville on the commencement of the new school year. "I want to wish the best to our students, families, teachers, management teams, and all the professionals who are part of Seville's educational community, a group of thousands of professionals who are role models. Happy school year to all," he concluded.
