The MonteMayor magazine, a carefully crafted publication that has been produced for decades, has become an essential element of Moguer's patron saint festivals. Its aim is to disseminate local history, the figure of Nobel Prize winner Juan Ramón Jiménez, and the devotion to Ntra. Sra. de Montemayor.
Dozens of researchers, scholars, poets, and graphic artists contribute their work to this editorial project by the Moguer City Council. The magazine is structured into three main thematic blocks: Juan Ramón Jiménez, Moguer, and Montemayor, offering around thirty literary contributions, research papers, and devotional articles.
The section dedicated to Juan Ramón Jiménez includes articles by literary personalities such as Emilia Cortés on Zenobia, Rocío Fernández Berrocal on the poet's relationship with Nature, and Rosario F. Cartes on the friendship between Jiménez and Salvador Dalí. Researchers like Angel Sody, Ana Isabel Alvea, Fernando Barranco, and the Grupo Platero de Madrid also participate.
The section on Moguer highlights historical episodes linking the city with the discovery of the New World and the Spanish Armada. Researchers such as Diego Ropero, Federico Ortega, Alonso Manuel Macías, Darío Barquero, and Juan Hernández contribute. It also includes a study by biologist Juan Jesús Medina on strawberries in paintings dedicated to the virgin.
The third section of the MonteMayor magazine is completed with emotive texts and poems dedicated to the Patron Saint of Moguer. The publication, edited by the Moguer City Council, was recently presented and is available for download in PDF format.
