The Provincial Council of Almería has given the green light to three projects aimed at improving hydraulic infrastructure in the municipalities of Turre, Uleila del Campo, and Rioja. These actions, which seek to renew and expand supply and sanitation networks, have a combined investment of over one million euros. The works in Turre and Uleila del Campo have already been awarded, while the project for Rioja is currently in the tendering phase.
The Deputy for Public Works, Infrastructure, Territorial Structuring, and Water, Antonio J. Rodríguez, emphasized that the common goal of these interventions is to "bring quality water to the residents of our municipalities, whether they live in the urban center or in more remote rural areas." He highlighted that the investment translates into "new networks, fewer breakdowns, and less water loss," which directly impacts citizens' daily lives and helps equalize opportunities.
In Uleila del Campo, the awarded project, with a budget of 168,000 euros and a 4-month execution period, will focus on Prim, Peligros, Olivaricos, and Tahona streets. Deteriorated supply pipes will be replaced, and the sanitation collector on Prim street will be renewed, including domestic connections. Accessibility on Peligros street will also be improved with new steps and handrails.
For Rioja, the investment amounts to 494,800 euros, with an 8-month execution period. The works will be distributed across five areas of the urban center, including the area around the school and the La Plaza neighborhood. Drinking water pipes, which are deteriorated and have several leaks, will be renewed, and affected domestic connections will be replaced. Additionally, a new sanitation network section will be created on Sandino street.
In Turre, the intervention, budgeted at 390,000 euros and lasting 6 months, will strengthen the supply in the rural area known as Los Tenaos. A deteriorated pipe will be replaced with a new network connecting the town of Turre to Cortijo Kupanda, Los Tenaos, and Llanos del Bezacón, using directed horizontal drilling to avoid traffic disruptions. The installation will include control pits and valves connected to a remote control system to improve supply reliability in the affected rural area.
