The University of Almería has launched its new academic year with significant international activity, starting with a visit to the prestigious Queen’s University of Belfast. This encounter served as a starting point and preparation for the upcoming international EAIE meeting in Glasgow.
During the working sessions, the team from the UAL's Vice-Rectorate for International Projection, led by vice-rector José Carlos Redondo Olmedilla, consolidated ties with attending institutions and toured the British university's faculties. The event facilitated discussions among specialists in international exchanges on new lines of institutional academic cooperation.
Among the central topics addressed, the fundamental role of student associations and their value in the university environment was analyzed. In this regard, Queen’s University of Belfast was highlighted as the leading institution in the United Kingdom for the promotion and staging of such student organizations.
Furthermore, participants delved into the importance of establishing solid and lasting relationships between universities globally. The academic capacity of Northern Ireland was emphasized, along with the need to incorporate strategic factors for attracting international talent, such as innovation, academic excellence, and an accessible cost of living for students.
Participating institutions agreed that inter-university collaboration frameworks are indispensable for the development of a modern university. In this context, the significance of the United Kingdom's return to the Erasmus+ program was recalled. This will be implemented with eligible commitments from 2027 onwards, allowing for academic mobility stays without additional tuition fees for both British students in the European Union and vice versa.
