The town of Huércal de Almería has hosted a pioneering event: the province's first vegan fair, which brought together hundreds of residents and visitors from the metropolitan area. The market, named ‘Huércal Vegan Market’, offered a wide range of gastronomic and wellness options based exclusively on plant-based products.
Organized by the Almería Association of Vegans and Vegetarians in collaboration with the City Council of Huércal de Almería, the event took place in the Plaza de las Mascaranas. The fair combined gastronomy, culture, wellness, and activism, featuring vegan food stalls, natural cosmetics, artisanal products, herbal remedies, cruelty-free items, crafts, candles, eco-decor, vegan bags, and a solidarity clothing exchange.
One of the highlights was the tasting of a popular vegan paella, which gathered vegans, vegetarians, flexitarians, and the curious in a festive atmosphere. The day also included a varied program of activities spread across the stage, amphitheater, and tents, featuring creative workshops, storytelling, music, dance, talks, yoga, and mindfulness, creating a family-friendly and inclusive event.
