The University of Almería (UAL) has positioned itself as a benchmark in Spanish nursing, with four faculty members linked to the institution being finalists in the IV National Nursing Awards. These awards, organized by the General Council of Nursing (CGE), aim to recognize excellence and professional commitment in the healthcare field. With these nominations, Almería leads national representation, tied with Madrid and surpassing other provinces.
UAL's talent is evident across various areas. In teaching, Pablo Román López, Professor of Nursing and Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, is recognized. In research, the faculty is represented by titular professor and vice-dean Verónica Victoria Márquez Hernández, also a full member of the Andalusian Academy of Nursing, and by Miguel Company Morales, a UAL doctoral graduate and associate professor, who leads research in the North Almería Health Management Area.
Professional trajectory is also acknowledged through Gabriel Aguilera Manrique, Professor of Nursing and Vice-Rector for Sustainability, Health, and Sports at the UAL. Additionally, Felipe Cañadas Núñez, Deputy General Manager of the Torrecárdenas University Hospital, is a finalist in the management category.
The selection of winners will be made through a mixed system combining the evaluation of an expert jury and an online popular vote. Nurses registered in Spain can cast their vote on the CGE's web platform until October 13th at 12:00 PM. The award recipients will be announced at the end of October in Madrid.
