The municipal plenary session of Íllora has greenlit the cancellation of the tax levied on the occupation of public space by bar and restaurant terraces. This initiative aims to provide economic relief to the local hospitality sector, considered a fundamental pillar of the municipality's economy.

The decision exempts hospitality establishments from paying this tax, a measure intended to facilitate their daily operations. Mayor Antonio Salazar emphasized that the goal is to "energize our town, support those who generate employment and wealth, and not place further obstacles for those who open their doors every day".

Salazar also highlighted that the hospitality industry is key to Íllora's economy and that the council wishes to "stand by them, facilitating their activity and removing unnecessary hurdles." The measure follows a winter marked by adverse weather conditions that negatively impacted businesses.

The council frames this tax elimination within a broader strategy to foster economic activity, local consumption, and employment. It also seeks to encourage the use of public spaces as meeting points, contributing to a more attractive environment for both residents and visitors.
