The fire originated at 12:56 PM this Monday in the Cooperativa San Lorenzo area, in the municipality of Loja. Although the high-risk fire season does not begin until June 1, the province is already facing the threat of flames.
To combat the blaze, Infoca deployed an initial operation consisting of a fire engine, two groups of forest firefighters, an operations technician, an environmental agent, and a light helicopter. Thanks to the swift intervention, the fire was stabilized by 1:39 PM.
After achieving a significant improvement in the situation, the service has proceeded to withdraw the light helicopter that had been deployed. Ground teams continue to work in the area with the aim of fully controlling the fire and, subsequently, extinguishing it.
