The investigation began after the woman's body was discovered in the burned-out house in Ogíjares. Agents from the Organic Police Unit of the Guardia Civil of Granada conducted an on-site inspection and gathered testimonies to clarify the events.
An indoor marijuana plantation was found in the house, and the victim had chest wounds, leading the investigation to focus on a possible homicide. The suspect, 27, is believed to have had an emotional relationship with the deceased's great-granddaughter, who reportedly described a potential situation of gender-based violence with the suspect.
Investigation efforts placed the young man at the scene, prompting a search operation for him. He was eventually arrested in Loja with the cooperation of his family.
The detainee is allegedly charged with homicide, arson, drug trafficking, and gender-based violence.
