The Piconrock Festival in Jérez del Marquesado premieres a new location at the Municipal Sports Center for its fifteenth edition on August 15th, gathering artists like Derby Motoreta's Burrito Kachimba and paying tribute to an association member.

The Piconrock Festival, celebrating its fifteenth anniversary, will move to the Municipal Sports Center in Jérez del Marquesado on August 15th. This change of venue aims to increase capacity and enhance the attendee experience, featuring a lineup including Derby Motoreta's Burrito Kachimba, En Espera, Mügre, Chingo Kids, and DJ PCR.
The Deputy of Culture and Education, Pilar Caracuel, alongside the Mayor of Jérez del Marquesado, José Ángel Pereda, and representatives from the Piconrock Cultural Association, presented the new edition. Caracuel highlighted the festival as a driver of social and economic revitalization, capable of projecting a municipality of fewer than a thousand inhabitants onto the Andalusian cultural map.
The mayor emphasized the provision of public transport from the provincial capital to facilitate access to the event. Founded in 2008 by a group of local youths, Piconrock has become the third most attended festival in the province of Granada, maintaining its participatory spirit and territorial connection.
The 2026 edition introduces a collaborative management model, with the Piconrock Cultural Association leading artistic direction and technical organization, and the addition of Crash Music to boost national promotion. The move to the sports center is due to renovation works at the traditional Plaza del Molino.
The fifteenth edition will include a moving tribute to Alberto, a member of the Piconrock Cultural Association who passed away last year, whose dedication was crucial to the project's growth.
The musical lineup will be headlined by Derby Motoreta's Burrito Kachimba, known for their blend of Andalusian rock, psychedelia, and flamenco. They will be joined by En Espera (rock & roll and ska), Mügre (rap-metal), Chingo Kids ('punk verbena'), and DJ PCR to close the night with punk rock.
The festival will maintain its accessible nature with free camping and parking for attendees. Tickets are now available on the festival's official website.
