Aqua Campiña, the managing company of the Municipal Water Service of Écija, has finished the tune-up work on the supply and sewage networks of the fairgrounds and surrounding areas of the La Alcarrachela neighborhood. The objective is to guarantee the proper functioning of services during the celebration days of the Real Feria.
These preventive cleaning and inspection activities of the sewage network aim to avoid incidents and facilitate the correct evacuation of wastewater and rainwater. They have cleaned 145 gully grates and connections, 4,325 meters of sewage pipes, and 38 inspection wells, removing approximately 265 kilograms of accumulated waste.
Preparing the network for potential rain during the fair and ensuring the correct collection and transport of water from the facilities of stalls and establishments to the treatment plant are key. The work was carried out using a specialized sanitation truck, employing high-pressure and suction technology to remove sediment and potential blockages.
Carlos Onetti, delegate for Environment of the Ayuntamiento de Écija, and José Mª Pérez, manager of Aqua Campiña, have supervised the work. Onetti highlighted the importance of these "invisible" infrastructures for the normal development and safety of the fair, while Pérez recalled that a 24-hour standby team will be available during the festivities.
Regarding supply, an estimated consumption of 8.6 million liters of water is expected during the fair, equivalent to more than three Olympic swimming pools, for the 28 stalls, kiosks, and other services.
Aqua Campiña reminds the public of the importance of responsible use of sanitation facilities, avoiding the disposal of wipes, oils, or food scraps that could cause blockages, especially on days of high usage intensity.
