The Baza Fair and Festivals 2026 has concluded with a very positive assessment, according to the government team of the Baza City Council. The celebration has been described as a success, marked by the intensity with which Bastetanos experience their festivals, enjoying cultural activities, traditions, and welcoming visitors from the region and neighboring provinces. Logistics at the fairgrounds and waste collection reflect an increase in general activity.
Mayor Pedro J. Ramos thanked the municipal workers for their efforts in setting up and maintaining the infrastructure, as well as the performance of the Local Police, Firefighters, and Civil Protection, who confirmed the near absence of significant incidents. The Red Cross provided eighty minor medical assistance, eleven of which required preventive transfer to the hospital.
The mayor also extended his gratitude to residents and visitors for their civility and responsible participation in the scheduled events, including the grand parade on the 8th under intense sun. The fervor shown towards Virgen de la Piedad was acknowledged, and Antonio Vera was congratulated for the successful Cascamorras race, which exceeded expectations with 17,000 attendees.
Culture Councilor José Gabriel López expressed satisfaction with citizen response. The concert by “El Arrebato” attracted 2,000 spectators, Charo Reina performed for 800 people at the tribute to the elderly, and the Municipal Booth saw full houses with King África, tribute acts, and flamenco performances. The orchestras and events at the Dengra, such as the zarzuela and theater, were also highly successful.
The new features at the fairgrounds were positively evaluated, including the new electrical transformer, the two new entrances on Ferrocarril Street and Santa Rita, and the installation of restrooms and sunshades. Notably, the renovated hall at the old station, featuring a model railway by the Friends of the Railway association, attracted thousands of visitors.
The Fair was very well-attended, with weekends being the busiest days and the afternoon 'tardeo' consolidating as a popular time slot. Waste collection, although initially lower, surpassed previous year's levels in the latter half of the fair. The company Valoriza was thanked for its cleaning efforts.
The mayor acknowledged the difficulty in estimating the economic impact but noted that the booths remained full. Areas for improvement were identified, such as gaps in the fairgrounds, the need for infrastructure for the Municipal Booth within the PAI Baza 2030, and the relocation of street vendor stalls. Work for the 2027 Fair has already begun.
