The 'El Cincel' employment and training program, implemented by the Algeciras City Council over one year, has provided valuable training to fifteen young people under 30 in areas such as painting, sanitation, and masonry. This training took place in various municipal facilities, combining theoretical and practical learning.
The initiative, which concluded last Monday, May 11, included 680 hours of training. The theoretical component was delivered at the ‘Vivero de Empresas’ Training Center, while practical experience was gained through placements in different municipal departments, offering participants real-world experience in urban maintenance.
The program was structured into two key training actions: a level 1 course in “Sanitation and painting in municipal facilities and urban furniture” lasting 270 hours, and a level 2 training in “Masonry construction” totaling 410 hours. These specializations are in high demand in the local job market.
“"These types of initiatives aim to improve the professional qualification of young unemployed individuals, facilitating their access to the labor market through regulated training and practical experience in real work environments."
During the closing ceremony and diploma presentation, several institutional representatives highlighted the importance of these programs for youth employability. It was noted that other similar initiatives, such as ‘La Paleta’, ‘El Muro’, or ‘Data XIII’, have been carried out in the city, all aimed at job placement.
The Junta de Andalucía explained that, in addition to technical training, participants gained work experience and received financial aid. The Algeciras City Council has reaffirmed its commitment to continue applying for new programs for unemployed individuals, seeking to strengthen institutional collaboration.
