Alejandro Vedia Hermoso, 50, and his son Antonio Vedia Arostegui, 20, undertook this crossing to raise funds for Cáritas San Roque. The initiative was supported by Sotogrande S.A.
The swim took place between Tarifa and Punta Cires, in northern Morocco. During the journey, the swimmers spotted numerous pilot whales, and the average water temperature was 21.3 degrees Celsius.
The information was provided by the Strait of Gibraltar Swim Crossing Association, which oversees these crossings.
Favorable conditions in the Strait of Gibraltar have led to numerous crossings recently. Just last Friday, four swimmers from Barcelona completed a similar journey, covering 16.3 kilometers in 5 hours and 26 minutes.
