Eiffage Infraestructuras will be responsible for executing the works, partially funded by 4 million euros from European Feder funds and the remainder from municipal contributions. The project, part of the municipality's Integrated Action Plan, aims to improve the functionality and image of the central public space.
The renovation will include new resting areas, shaded zones, and seating areas to promote community interaction. Significant structural issues detected beneath the current plaza, which is characterized by hard surfaces and limited shade, will also be addressed.
The landscape transformation features a substantial botanical upgrade with new garden areas, increased tree planting, and ornamental species adapted to the Mediterranean climate. The goal is to reduce the thermal sensation and combat the urban heat island effect through a renewed irrigation system and integrated design.
Key elements of the project include new pergolas, envisioned as design icons to create extensive shaded areas. Additionally, the children's play area will be enhanced with larger and better-equipped facilities.
